Adjunct Faculty
Spirituality and Healing, Stone-Campbell Movement, Unity and Pluralism
I teach and write about practical, actionable theology and spirituality. I came to George Mason University in 2025, having previously served the U.S. Army as a Reserve Chaplain and as a Director of Family Programs. I earned a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (as a non-Baptist), and an M.A. and M.Div. from Southern Christian University. Previously, I taught and served in leadership roles at the Army Chaplain School, International College and Graduate School, Hawaii Theological Seminary, Lipscomb University, and Southern Christian University.
My teaching and scholarship center on spirituality as a prescription to improve the health of people and communities. As an Army Chaplain with hospital Chaplain experience, I served on the front lines of returning the spiritual domain to the mental and physical domains in the Army's doctrine of holistic health. I love facilitating learning with students and exploring lives and cultures whose spiritualities made them healthier.
